Vision
We envision a community of writers who are hungry to contribute to vibrant original storytelling in Hampton Roads. This retreat will become a place where projects are begun, breakthroughs happen, drafts are completed, collaborations are formed, and new works ultimately find their way into the world.
Making Playwrighting Accessible
"We believe writers need more than just inspiration — for many artists, writing has to squeeze in between the cracks of everyday life. Page/One seeks to create that uninterrupted time. No one achieves anything alone."
-Liz Terrell
"Through providing space, eliminating everyday distractions, and fostering friendship and community, we support writers in their craft — and in becoming better advocates for other artists in the area."
-Connor Norton
What often delays the finishing of a new work is not the writer's ambition but the lack of focused time and accountability. This program exists because your work and ideas are worth prioritizing. A writer comes in all forms — full-time, part-time, late at night after the family's asleep. Page/One exists to eliminate the logistical barriers to 'making time' for new work.
