ROŪGE evaluates all involvement and employment decisions based on merit, artistic collaboration, and shared mission alignment. We expect every member of our team and extended creative community to demonstrate mutual respect, cultural humility, and a commitment to equity in action—not just intention.
If any individual believes they have been subjected to discriminatory or retaliatory treatment within ROŪGE spaces or by those affiliated with ROŪGE, we encourage prompt reporting to the Operations Manager, Production Stage Manager, or another designated leadership contact. All reports will be reviewed with care, discretion, and a commitment to safety and fairness.
ROŪGE believes that reinventing theater begins with how we show up for one another.
Anti-Harassment Policy
ROŪGE: Theater Reinvented is committed to cultivating safe, respectful, and affirming creative spaces for everyone. As a community-rooted and artist-led organization, ROŪGE operates across a wide range of environments—including rehearsal rooms, partner venues, classrooms, and public spaces—where collaboration, vulnerability, and storytelling intersect. We recognize that these spaces require intentional care, shared accountability, and clearly defined standards of behavior.
We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or other misconduct rooted in bias—whether it is unlawful or simply misaligned with our values of dignity, inclusion, and justice.
Who This Policy Protects
This policy applies to everyone involved in ROŪGE’s activities, including but not limited to:
Employees and independent contractors
Creative collaborators and artistic teams
Volunteers and unpaid interns
Performers, students, and teaching artists

All individuals are protected from misconduct based on actual or perceived identity, including (but not limited to) race, ethnicity, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, age, ability, body size, marital or parental status, genetic information, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under local, state, or federal law.
What We Prohibit
ROŪGE prohibits all forms of the following conduct:
Discrimination
Any adverse treatment or exclusion based on a protected identity or association with a protected group.
Harassment
Unwelcome conduct based on a protected characteristic that interferes with a person's ability to participate fully in ROŪGE programming or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.
This includes but is not limited to:
Verbal or Written Misconduct: Slurs, derogatory comments, “jokes” based in stereotype, repeated misgendering, patronizing remarks, comments about someone’s appearance, body, or identity, or sexualized remarks—including over email, text, or social media.
Visual Misconduct: Offensive gestures, images, posters, cartoons, or visual content including what is displayed or shared in rehearsal or digital spaces.
Physical Misconduct: Unwanted touching, blocking someone’s path, intimidation, or physical assault.
Sexual Harassment: Any unwelcome sexual attention or coercion, including:
Sexual advances, invitations, or comments
Conditioning benefits or roles on the exchange of sexual favors
Threats, innuendo, or implied consequences for rejecting such advances
An environment made uncomfortable through suggestive behavior, jokes, or favoritism
Retaliation: Any action taken to punish or deter someone for reporting misconduct or supporting someone who does, including exclusion, threats, job consequences, or diminished access to opportunity.
Hostile Acts: Behaviors not explicitly sexual but rooted in bias or bigotry that target an individual’s identity and create an unsafe or demeaning environment.
Even if the conduct in question would not qualify as unlawful under the law, it may still violate ROŪGE’s values and standards.

Reporting Structure & Timeline
Anyone who experiences or witnesses misconduct, discrimination, harassment, or retaliation in a ROŪGE-affiliated space is encouraged to report the concern promptly.
Reports should be submitted to the Operations Manager, who serves as the primary point of contact for concerns related to misconduct and workplace safety.
Other ROŪGE personnel—such as the Stage Manager, Director, or additional ROŪGE Staff—may also be approached for support or assistance in initiating a report. If any individual in your reporting pathway is involved in the incident, or if you feel uncomfortable reporting to them, you may consult the ROŪGE Organizational Chart to identify an appropriate and trustworthy alternative contact.
All reports will be received with care, discretion, and a commitment to ensuring safety and fairness for all parties involved. ROŪGE will take appropriate steps to review and address concerns raised, including offering informal resolution, outside facilitation, or formal action as warranted.
Retaliation of any kind is strictly prohibited and will be treated as a serious violation of this policy.
Creating Safer Creative Spaces
Because our work often asks artists and audiences to explore complex material, vulnerability, and embodiment, we believe that establishing clear consent, affirmative boundaries, and access to support is vital to our process.
ROŪGE will:
Uphold trauma-informed practices in our rehearsals and workshops
Establish community agreements and shared norms for conduct
Engage outside facilitators or HR professionals when appropriate
Provide pathways for education and accountability—not just punishment
We expect all participants to contribute to a culture of consent, collaboration, and courageous empathy.
