The Retreat

What happens if you're accepted? Here's what your week at Page/One looks like.

Where Will You Meet?

The Retreat will take place in the off-tourist season at a beautiful oceanfront home with space to enjoy both indoor and outdoor writing spaces, and wonderful views to relax and flow the creative juices.

Whether you’d like to carpool to remain on the residence, or keep access to your personal vehicle, we want you to have the autonomy needed to feel comfortable in your work.

What does each day of the Retreat include?

Our goal is to maximize productive writing hours during the entirety of your retreat. We want the planning and feedback sessions to be as unintrusive as possible so we can help YOU measure the amount of time you need to achieve your goals within your satisfaction.

Day 4 - Jan. 28

Final Day - Using one on one feedback, notes from shares, we will share in a writing half-day. After lunch, we’ll share the excerpts we’ve selected to be shared for the presentation out loud among Mentor, Writers, and ROUGE team in preparation for the reading.

We’ll celebrate the conclusion of the week with testimonials, dinner, and friends.

Sharing - Jan. 30

Reading Day - After a day of rest for writers, and a day of rehearsal with volunteer readers, 30 minutes of each piece will be read aloud in a special presentation with writers, friends, family, and local arts creators and producers.

Day 0 - Jan. 24

Arrival Day - You will meet your fellow writers, get settled in your living space, participate in some shared meal and conversations to establish goals, projects each writer is working on, and processes for productivity.

Day 1 - Jan. 25

First Writing Day - We will break fast together with a writing exercise and some guiding principals before committing to a full day of writing in whatever time and order you need in the day.

Day 3 - Jan. 27

Second Writing Day - While we engage in another full day of Writing, the Playwrighting Mentor will meet with writers one on one to dig into the focal points and goals established on Day One.

Each Writer will get at least an hour of one on one coaching during this day.

Day 2 - Jan. 26

Sharing Day - Writers will share excerpts from Day 1 for feedback among the writers. A Playwrighting Mentor will come in to lead a guided exercise and offer some tools to assist in a second day of work.

At the end of the day, writers will share their work so far with the Playwright mentor one on one.
